Woman dies in firing in Pulwama.

Srinagar: Five militants were killed in two separate shootouts with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s frontier Baramulla district during the past 24 hours, the officials said on Friday.

They said that three militants were killed in fighting raging in Bonyar area close to the line of control (LoC) since Thursday morning. They added that the slain men were part of a group of infiltrators confronted by Indian troops soon after it sneaked in Bonyar, Uri area from Pakistani-occupied-Kashmir.

The police on Friday night said that two militants killed at Kralhar, Baramulla have been identified as Jaish-e- Muhammad cadres Wahab and Faizan. Both of them were Pakistani nationals and Wahab was reported to be working as Jaish’s district commander, a police official said.

“It was a major infiltration bid which has been foiled by our alert jawans. Three terrorists have been killed, so far. The operation is going on,” a defence spokesman said here.

He added that the fighting broke out after the Army troops noticed some suspicious movement along the LoC near Tourna in Boniyar area in the early hours of Thursday and challenged the infiltrators.

The Army also said that four AK-47 rifles and four haversacks were recovered from the slain terrorists.

The second clash, the officials said, took place on Friday after militants shot and wounded a policeman at Kralhar in Baramulla.

A late evening report from Pulwama said that a woman was killed in a firing incident in the district’s Shadimarg area.

The report said that the militants targeted a camp of Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles with an UBGL grenade around 7 10 pm which was followed by intense firing between the two sides. A local woman identified as Firdousa Khursheed was critically injured in the firing and later succumbed in the hospital.
