Sources, however, declined to elaborate the ground based on which the review petition was being filed in the supreme court.

Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government has initiated moves to file a review petition in the Supreme Court challenging its ruling to lift ban on release of the controversial movie Padmaavat.

Sources in chief minister’s office (CMO) told this newspaper on Sunday that the draft review petition has been prepared by the state law department and would be filed in the apex court in a day or two.

“The state law department as well as the advocate general has examined the supreme court verdict directing to lift ban on the film. Our draft review petition is ready and will be filed in the apex court in a day or two,” a senior officer of the state government indicated to this newspaper.

Sources, however, declined to elaborate the ground based on which the review petition was being filed in the supreme court.

In a related development, the MP cinema hall association on Sunday took a decision to release the movie despite threat to disrupt the screening of the film given by Rajput Karni Sena. “We have decided to meet chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeking security,” an office bearer of the association said.
