America, UK discuss Pak stand on terrorism
New Delhi: Countries including the United States, United Kingdom and France are believed to have expressed concern with Pakistan failing to take enough corrective measures to curb terror activities, including funding, against terror outfits operating from its soil. These countries also flagged the issue of Pakistan not registering cases under stringent provision against top terror operatives like Hafiz Saeed and Masood Azhar under anti-terror laws.
Intelligence sources claimed that the issue was discussed in details during the meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) which is going on in Florida in the US. On its part Pakistan’s stated position has been that it has initiated strong measures against terror groups like Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), Jamat-ud-Dawah (JuD) and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) by seizing more than 700 properties belonging to them. This action is similar to the one initiated by the neighbouring country after it was put in the gray list in 2012.
But the important FATF nations expressed concern that Pakistan has done little to register tough cases against likes of Saeed and Masood and other United Nations-designated terrorists. Officials claimed that India’s stand at the FATF Plenary and other related discussions have always been consistent regarding Pakistan that it has not done enough to curb cross border terror.
