Chhattisgarh minister performs rituals at polling centre

Bhopal: A cabinet minister in the Raman Singh government has landed in trouble for performing rituals at the polling Centre in Chhattisgarh before casting his vote on Tuesday.

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Chhattisgarh Subrat Sahu ordered the returning officer concern to serve notice to Dayaldas Baghel after a video showing him worshipping the EVM and the voting enclosure went viral in social media on Wednesday.

The minister was seen the video clip making round of the polling centre under Nawagarh assembly constituency in Bemetra district from where he was seeking re-election carrying lighted incense sticks and then entering the booth.

He was then seen in the video worshipping the voting enclosure and then EVM and later coming out of the booth. He went inside the booth to cast his vote after cracking a coconut outside the polling centre.

Nawagarh was among 72 assembly constituencies which had gone to polls in the second and final phase of elections in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
