Praveen Togadia seeks ordinance to ban film
Jaipur: VHP leader Praveen Togdia has asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring an ordinance to ban Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial film Padmavat.
“The Central government had brought ordinance for Hindu pride when the Supreme Court had banned Jallikattu. I appeal Prime Minister Narendra Bhai Modi to bring an ordinance against the Supreme Court order and protect honour of Hindus,” Mr Togdia told mediapersons in Jaipur on Monday.
However, the international working president of VHP said that if the government didn’t bring the ordinance to ban the film, the VHP will impose “Janta Curfew” outside cinema halls on Friday. “We will not allow this film to be released. If the government doesn’t do this, VHP and Bajrang Dal workers will come out on streets to protest democratically against the film,” he said. According to him, this was not just a matter for the Rajput community, but all the Hindus because women from all Hindu castes had committed Jauhar.
