UP cleric fatwa to stone victim of triple talaq
Lucknow: Things seem to be getting increasingly difficult for Nida Khan, a triple talaq victim from Bareilly district, who has upset Muslim clerics after her triple talaq was set aside by Bareilly court.
After the Bareilly clerics called for a social boycott of Nida Khan, it is now the All India Faizan-e-Madina Council that has announced a reward for anyone who stones Nida Khan and cuts off her hair. The council has announced a reward of Rs 11, 786 for this.
Council present Moin Siddiqui Noori also ordered Nida Khan and her associate Farhat Naqvi (sister of Union minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi) to leave the country within three days.
The Council has distributed pamphlets declaring the punishment for Nida Khan and Farhat Naqvi.
Both the women have already been ex-communicated from Islam for violating the tenets of the religion.
Nida Khan has already lodged a complaint with the police regarding the Council announcement but no action has been taken so far, “These clerics have no right to ex-communicate me from Islam. I will continue to fight against malpractices and atrocities being heaped upon women in the name of religion”, she said on Sunday.
It may be recalled that on July 16, the Darul Ifta department of the Ala Hazrat Dargah in Bareilly had announced a social boycott of Nida Khan and had even warned that anyone who supports her would also face a similar boycott.
Nida Khan, incidentally, was married to Shirin Raza Khan who is the son of Anjum Miyan, the head of the Ala Hazrat Dargah, in July 2015.
She was given triple talaq in February 2016, barely seven months after the marriage.
