Two killed in Ulfa attack in Assam

Guwahati: In what has created terror among the businessmen in Upper Assam district, the anti-talk faction of Ulfa on Thursday killed two person, including a businessman in a grenade attack in Upper Assam's Sivsagar district.

Though, police was tight-lipped about the incident, security sources said that two motorcycle-borne Ulfa-I rebels hurled a grenade on the hardware shop of Kamal Agarwal and fled away unchallenged.

A customer who sustained the impact of the blast died on the spot. The owner of the shop Kamal Agarwal was also critically wounded and shifted to Dibrugarh Medical College Hospital where he also succumbed to injuries.

Security sources said that Ulfa-I rebels had served some extortion demand to the shopkeeper but he could not pay the money. Though, it could not be confirmed officially, the family sources said that businessman who was on the hit list of Ulfa-I was also given a PSO for security.

The Sivsagar superintendent of police, Subodh Kumar Sonowal however told reporters that they are investigating the matter.
