Jaipur: The son of a sitting BJP MLA in Rajasthan has landed a government job as a peon at the state assembly.

Ram Kishan, son of Jagdish Narayan Meena, MLA from Jamwa Ramgarh, is one of the 18 people selected out of 18,008 positions for a Grade IV vacancy.

While Meena, who belongs to the ST category, is satisfied that his son has a government job, others are not so happy and there are demands for investigation of the selection process.

Rajasthan Pradesh Congress president Sachin Pilot slammed BJP, saying that they had failed to create the 15 lakh jobs they had promised for the youth and was now using nepotism in the few thousand they had managed to create.

The young Congress leader also said that similar corruption had also occurred during the selection of "gram sevaks," where relatives of BJP leaders had been selected instead of "Vidyarthi Mitra."

The newly-selected peon's father, however, said that his son had landed the post through fair trial.

Meena said,"My son is only Metric. Since Ram Kishan is the eldest of four siblings, he had to take care of the farms and his younger siblings. So he could study only up to Matriculation."

When asked why he did not bring his son into politics, Meena replied that politics is not everyone's cup of tea.

This is not the first time that an MLA's son has landed a Grade IV job in the government.

Earlier, BJP legislator Heera Lal Verma's son Hansraj, who had studied till Class 8, had appeared for an interview at Ajmer's Krishi Upaj Mandi (Rajasthan State Agriculture Marketing Board) in 2015.

Verma, a two-time MLA from Tonk district, had said his son was less educated and he did not want him to do any other work "beyond his capablities or eligibility".
