Ballari: Are you prepared to pay the ‘price’ for clicking photographs of a  marriage without the permission of the bride or bridegroom? Pieter G. Deverell from the United Kingdom is and has sent cheques worth  Rs 30,000 to the manager of the famed Virupaksha Temple in Hampi while repenting for unknowingly clicking the photos!

It all happened when Pieter visited the 15th century capital of the Vijayanagar empire on November 17 last year. On seeing a wedding going on at the temple premises, he assumed it was a religious ritual and started clicking photos, fascinated by the attire of the bride and groom.

Later, he realised he had intruded into a marriage ceremony and silently left the place.

“I felt I had hurt them. Regretting my conduct, I am sending these cheques to the temple administration, since I don’t know the address of the bride, groom and priest who conducted the marriage. I request the temple administration to hand over these cheques to the concerned couple and I am hopeful that they will pardon me once they receive these cheques,” Mr Deverell stated in his two page letter written to the manager.

He has sent cheques worth 251 Pound to the newly wedded couple, 51 Pound to the priest and 11 Pound to Virupaksha temple.
