SAD leader Brahmpura resigns from all party posts
Chandigarh: In another big jolt to the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), its senior leader Ranjit Singh Brahmpura has resigned. Mr Brahmpura has resigned from all party posts. This is the biggest jolt to the SAD after the resignation of another senior leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
Mr Brahmpura is the senior most SAD leader from Majha region of Punjab. He is currently a Lok Sabha MP from Khadoor Sahib constituency.
The senior SAD leader announced his resignation at a press conference at his residence on Tuesday. He said that he will remain active in politics and work as a member in the party but will not hold any office. Mr Brahmpura also announced not to contest the next Lok Sabha polls. Another senior Akali leader Dr Ratan Singh Ajnala accompanied Mr Brahmpura at the press conference.
Replying to media queries, Mr Brahmpura said he was not indispensable as “there are enough wise people like Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Bikram Singh Majithia.”
Mr Brahmpura said he was upset with the pardoning of Dera Sirsa chief and handling the sacrilege incidents by the Badal government.
