CM Yogi Adityanath visits Krishna Janmabhoomi

Talking to reporters, the chief minister said that his government did not prevent anyone from celebrating festivals of their choice.

Lucknow: UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday visited the Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura and spent about half-an-hour in the sanctum sanctorum.

The chief minister was in Mathura to witness the “Lathhmaar” Holi in Barsana. His visit to Mathura is aimed at making the Barsana Holi a global tourist event.

Yogi Adityanath offered prayers at the birthplace of Lord Krishna and also reviewed the security arrangements. He is the first chief minister of the state to visit the Krishna Janmabhoomi. The CM spent the entire day at Lohwan village where he met kids and distributed books among them. Later, the CM met women of the village who are running their own businesses after getting skill development training.

Mr Aditynath also attended Brij Mahotsav in Mathura.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that time has come to “take this event to an international level”.

“Holi should be celebrated in a manner that people from across the world arrive in Mathura to witness the gaiety of this festival,” he said.
