BENGALURU: A nationwide rally launched on  January 30 on the 72nd death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi by  Samajvadi Vichara Yatra from Delhi demanding the roll back of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NP-R), reached Bengaluru on Sunday following which a protest was held at Town Hall in the city.

“The country’s civil society is in danger and the government intends to create a divide among its own people on communal, regional, linguistic and castiest lines, in the garb of CAA, NRC and NPR,” Dr Sunilam, one of those participating in the rally stated.

Commenting on the recent repeal of Article 370 of the Constitution pertaining to special status for Jammu and Kashmir and the ban on communication modes,  he said, “The restoration of democracy in Kash-mir is important and all communication services should be reinstated. I am against the division of Jammu & Kashmir state as well.”

In the first phase the yatra will end on March 23 in Hyderabad and in the second phase, it will start on April 10 from Champaran in Bihar where Gandhi held his first satyagraha and will culminate on May 17 at Patna. The final phase will start on October 11 from Sitabdiara and will end in Delhi on October 31.
