Lucknow: After the Blue Whale scare, it is now the Fire Fairy video game that is claiming the lives of children.

In a shocking incident, a Class 8th girl student from Ballia set herself on fire after reaching the second stage of the video game that encourages children to turn on gas stoves.

According to reports, the girl set herself on fire in her house. Her younger brother told the police that his sister was playing the game and then went on the first floor of the house. He said that a few minutes later, he heard her screaming and when he went up, he saw her engulfed in flames. Their parents had gone out for work when the incident took place. The brother called out for help after their neighbours came in and doused the flames.

The girl was taken to the hospital but she died on the way. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
