Bihar DGP rules out CBI probe possibility
Patna: The state police on Tuesday ruled out the possibility of CBI probe in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case where 29 minor girls were brutally raped earlier this year. Speaking on the issue DGP K.S. Diwedi told reporters, “Police probe into the case has been satisfactory and there is no need for CBI investigation”.
A similar indication also came from deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi who expressed satisfaction on the police investigation and said, “Fair probe has been conducted by the police on the issue and accused have been arrested”.
He gave the statement while replying to questions raised by opposition parties in the state assembly. Former CM Rabri Devi and other opposition leaders including her son Tejashwi Yadav had earlier demanded a CBI probe on the issue.
Tejashwi Yadav has blamed the state government on the issue. “Home minister Rajnath Singh is ready for CBI enquiry if state government sends a recommendation. But Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi has been denying the need for CBI probe and running away from it”, leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav said in a tweet.
