Lucknow: Perturbed by the increasing number of conversions, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad will now launch a campaign in which “katha vachaks” (storytellers) will inform people about the dignity, respect and nationalism that is an inherent part of the Hindu culture.

The “katha vachaks” will start the campaign from October with West Bengal and the Northeast being the focus.

‘The idea is to remove the misconceptions that have been fed to people by vested interest and encourage them to return to their parent religion,” said a senior VHP leader.

The leader said that the conversions were being encouraged by Christian missionaries in West Bengal and the Northeast.

“Things have changed after the BJP came to power in Assam and Tripura and we will be increasing our presence as well as our activities so that the Hindus there can feel reassured. VHP leader Shyamji Gupta will be in charge of the campaign,” he said.
