Mayawati says won't attend Patna rally
Lucknow: BSP president Mayawati said on Thursday that she would not attend the Patna rally on Sunday. Talking to reporters, she said that unless a respectable seat distribution between the secular parties was decided, there was no point in forging the alliance.
She said that seat distribution had emerged as a contentious issue between alliance in the past and this made the people lose faith in such alliances. This also benefitted the BJP, she said. Ms Mayawati said that the BSP was a ‘zabardast secular party’ in its own right and capable of contesting on its own.
She predicted that after the Patna rally, the secular forces would stab each other in the back which will, again, benefit the communal forces. She further said that she would share the dais with any regional or national party only after seat distribution was finalised.
