Rahul Gandhi to directly interact with grassroots workers
New Delhi: In a bid to strengthen the state unit ahead of assembly polls, Congress is set to launch a contact initiative, which will have party president Rahul Gandhi and AICC campaigners communicating with its grassroots workers in Rajasthan.
The communication programme named ‘Shakti’ would be a bridge between Mr Gandhi and the party’s booth-level functionaries and is expected to be launched before the second week of March.
AICC general secretary in-charge of the state Avinash Pande said the initiative, a brainchild of Mr Gandhi, is one of the measures the party is taking to bolster its state body by engaging and energising the workers. He added that direct communication with Mr Gandhi would also boost the morale of workers of the party, which is trying to wrest power from the BJP.
Rajasthan will go to polls later this year. Mr Pande said Shakti is the party’s technology intervention. As part of it, Mr Gandhi and the AICC headquarters will stay in touch with hordes of grassroots workers in the state.
