Lucknow: Youth Congress workers in luck now were brutally lathi-charged by the police on Tuesday when they attempted to gherao the Vidhan Sabha as part of the ‘save India ‘ campaign.

The Youth Congress workers were organizing the ‘save India’ campaign in response to the Black day programme organized by the ruling BJP to mark the 43rd anniversary of Emergency.

Scores of Youth Congress workers, including CLP leader Ajay Kumar Lallu,  were injured and had to be admitted to various hospitals. UPCC president Raj Babbar went to the hospitals to meet the party workers who said that they were not being given proper treatment.

Later, addressing a press conference, Mr Babbar said that the police action on Congress men was ‘barbaric’.

“The BJP is attacking the Congress but what it is doing is worse than Emergency. It was a peaceful protest and the BJP was holding similar protests on their issue. There are several Hitlers who are ruling the country now,” he said.
