Won't allow Bihar Assembly to function unless CM, Dy CM resign: RJD

Earlier, the RJD marched towards Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi's residence to stage a protest over the sudden change of administration.

Patna (Bihar): Hours after Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar took oath of office for the sixth time with Sushil Kumar Modi swearing in as Deputy Chief Minister, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers on Thursday protested against the former in Patna stating that both must resign and until they don't do, they would not allow the state assembly to function.

Speaking at a press conference here, RJD leader Jagadanand Singh said, "The people of Bihar are betrayed by this act of Nitish. He is not just our chief minister but our brother too. CM and Deputy CM must resign. Until they don't do it, we will not let the Vidhan Sabha function".

Earlier in the day, the RJD marched towards Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi's residence to stage a protest over the sudden change of the administration and the oath-taking ceremony.

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav took to Twitter to intimate about the same and questioned the change in the timing from 5 p.m. to 10 a.m. He said that the time for the swearing-in changed after the information of the RJD meeting the Governor at 11 a.m. came out.

Tejashwi also claimed that they have the support of more than half of Janata Dal (United) MLAs, which is making Nitish rush to the Governor's residence at midnight itself.

Meanwhile, the RJD also criticized Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi for changing the time of the oath-taking ceremony.

"A Governor should act as the custodian of the Constitution, not as the Centre's stooge. He can't ignore the single largest party and the largest prepoll alliance," the RJD tweeted.
