Muzzafarpur case: Nitish hands over case to CBI

Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed officials to hand over the case to CBI.

Patna: Amid ruckus in the state Assembly over the Muzaffarpur shelter home issue where 29 out of 44 girls were sexually assaulted, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed officials to hand over the case to CBI.

A statement issued by the chief minister’s office said, “The state government is committed to a fair probe into the heinous incident which has occurred in Muzaffarpur shelter home. To end confusion on the issue, CM has asked the DGP and principal home secretary to hand over the case to the CBI with immediate effect.” The move comes a day after the wife of child protection officer (CPO) Ravi Kumar Raushan alleged that social welfare minister Manju Verma’s husband Chendreshwar Verma visited the shelter home frequently.
