President Kovind wowed by rising Bastar'

He was the third president to visit Bastar, but first one to spend a night in the tribal-dominated region.

Bhopal: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday wound up his two-day visit to Bastar in Chhattisgarh during which he noticed transformation of the conflict zone in the last several years. “In last 14-15 years, lifestyle of tribals of Bastar has undergone transformation. Road and mobile connectivity has improved in the region considerably, leaving a positive impact on the lives of tribals in Bastar,” he said. “On the completion of my first year in office, I feel great to be among tribals and forest dwellers,” he said. The President attended various functions interacting with tribal school children and women of self-help groups (SHGs) in the region.

He had also broken bread with the tribal inmates of a local residential school and distributed sweets to tribal children he brought for them from Rashtrapati Bhawan.
