CBI lodges FIR over misuse of PM's name
New Delhi: The CBI has registered a case against unidentified persons for allegedly using Prime Minister’s name to con people through a purported loan scheme.
According to sources, the CBI had received a complaint from the PMO, nearly 11 months ago, alleging that the scheme had misused the PM’s name.
The perpetrators of the scheme had allegedly given a misleading advertisement in a leading national daily on July 11 last year, offering loans under the “Pradhanmantri Jan Kalyan Yojna” with no file charge, no guarantor with zero per cent interest, 60 per cent rebate within 12 hours by logging on www.Satyamgroup.Org, the complaint alleged.
“This appears to be a clear case of forgery/impersonation wherein the name of PM has been misused,” it alleged.
Earlier, CBI had registered another FIR against unknown people for attempting to cheat a Moradabad-based aspiring entrepreneur using name of the PMO.
Pankaj Kumar, a resident of Moradabad, had recieved a mail from PMO, saying his loan of Rs 1.02 crore was sanctioned.
Kumar had later contacted the PMO to check the mail’s credibility when it was found to be fraud.
