Chhattisgarh has over 3,000 centenarian voters
Bhopal: Of the total 1,81,52,143 voters in Chhattisgarh, 3,630 have crossed 100 years of age, according to the chief electoral officer (CEO) of the state Subrat Sahu.
According to Mr Sahu, the electoral roll revision done in Chhattisgarh in June this year has led to disclosure that there are 3630 centenarian voters in the state.
“The list of centenarian voters has been pegged at 3630 following recent revision of electoral roll in the state.
Names of a number of other centenarian voters were removed from the electoral roll after it was found that some of them were dead while some others could not produce evidence of their age”, a senior officer in the chief electoral officer’s officer in Raipur told this newspaper on phone on Thursday.
This was the first time, the list of centenarian voters have been made public in Chhattisgarh, official sources said.
Chhattisgarh is going to assembly elections in November this year.
According to Mr Sahu, the second phase of revision of electoral rolls in the state would commence on July 31 this year and end on August 21, 2018.
The final electoral roll of the state will be published on September 27 this year.
According to him, latest models of electronic voting machines (M-3 series) would be used in the upcoming assembly elections in Chhattisgarh.
All the electronic voting machines would be connected to voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) machines.
