Sangh cadre to steer cashless drive
New Delhi: The Sangh Parivar, including the BJP, has activated its cadre to spread Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message of creating a “cashless society” far and wide. Countering the BJP’s opponents’ charges against the Modi government’s demonetisation move and highlighting its “positive effects” are also the part of this “mission”. The RSS top brass is also expected to hold a review meeting soon with the BJP high command, including senior ministers of the government, on the demonetisation. The RSS had hailed the decision, saying it is in “national interest” and done with the “honest intention” of setting in “motion cleaner and transparent monetary transaction and practises.”
If the BJP held a workshop on Monday of its leaders on digital banking and cash substitutes, including digital wallets, and asked them to focus more on youth and the trading community, Sangh affiliate Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) youth wing, Bajrang Dal, is training its “nearly 24 lakh members” about electronic banking and digital wallets. These “Bajrangis” will hold group meetings to highlight and promote Mr Modi’s message. VHP’s Surendra Jain said the demonetisation decision was a “revolution” to usher in transparency and a jolt to those involved in black money, corruption terror funding and drugs. Interestingly, the ‘Hindu Helpline,’ brainchild of the VHP’s international working president, Pravin Togadiya, is now also assisting people on tax related issues in the “present socio-economic situation (read post-demonetisation decision)” through tele-counselling by “renowned Chartered Accountants.”
“PM Modi has asked youths to participate in this mission and become part of this change...we are using social media to rope in and educate people and spread the message that how the demonetisation and a cashless society could help in India’s development,” said Hindu Jagran Manch’s Devendra Mishra.
The BJP has already asked its leaders, including MPs and MLAs, to highlight in their respective constituencies the demonetisation issue and that how it is an effective measure against black money and corruption.
BJP supporters and workers have been asked to assist people queued outside ATMs and banks and to focus more in the rural areas. BJP workers are also extensively using social media to rope in youths in this “mission”.
