No ban on The Accidental Prime Minister in MP

The trailer of the film was released on Thursday.

Bhopal: The Accidental Prime Minister, in which actor Anupam Kher plays former PM Manmohan Singh, has set off a controversy in Madhya Pradesh even before it hit the silver screen with ruling Congress describing it, “more a political agenda than a film”. The trailer of the film was released on Thursday.

“The movie has been made with a mala-fide intention to tarnish the image of Congress ahead of 2019 Lok Sabha elections. The film is a political agenda of BJP,” Congress spokesman here Pankaj Chaturvedy said.

He said people in the country very well knew the motive behind production of the film and it would hardly influence them.

While several Congress leaders sought a ban on it or removal of “objectionable scenes”, a Congress spokesman here denied any move by the state government, saying that chief minister Kamal Nath has already clarified that no restrictions would be imposed on screening of any film in the state.
