Bengaluru: Lashing out at the union government headed by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, Congress leaders across the state on Saturday, unanimously charged that the implementation of the amended citizenship Act, NPR and NRC were nothing but tools to convert the secular state into a communal state.

As part of its nationwide campaign against the NRC and Amended Citizenship Act, the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee had organized a “Flag March” from its party headquarters to Freedom Park here. Congress Legislature party leader, Siddaramaiah said that the youngsters and women particularly coming out in large numbers against these dreaded laws is a clear indication that the BJP’s ill-design of converting the secular state into a communal state stands exposed.

“Unconstitutional methods are being deployed to convert our country into a communal one. The Congress will not allow them (BJP) to do it. We will stand rock solid against such ill-designs and we will ensure that they will fail,” he thundered.

While training his guns on the union government, former KPCC president, Dr G. Parameshwara charged that the Sangh-pariwar which controls the BJP had been waiting for this day to implement its hidden agenda. “The Congress party is the only roadblock. They are trying to get rid of the Congress party by unleashing a malicious campaign against the party and its leaders. We will not succumb to their machinations,” he said, adding  "Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who stormed to power by decimating the opposition in 2014 by promising the country’s youth that he would generate employment for them has failed.  In the last five and half years, he and his cabinet as well as party colleagues have been dividing this country on communal lines. They have completely forgotten about their promise as well."

Meanwhile, former minister, D. K. Shivakumar dared Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tender a public apology over calling writers and intellectuals, who are in the forefront of the agitation against the implementation of these dreaded Acts 'Urban Naxals'. “The BJP and Mr Modi primarily focus their entire energy on isolating a particular community (minorities) instead of thinking about jobs or the welfare of this country. Their idea of development itself is flawed,” he said.
