Driver hurt as Chhattisgarh Naxals target CRPF supply vehicle
Bhopal: Maoists, armed with bows and arrows, on Tuesday attacked a vehicle carrying supplies for CRPF personnel in Abhanpur in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar district of Dantewada.
The driver of the vehicle, who tried to escape the Naxal attack by speeding his vehicle away from the spot, was hurt when he was hit by two arrows shot by the Maoists targeting him, a senior police officer posted in Bastar told this newspaper.
The driver sensed danger after he noticed the road ahead was blocked with logs and turned back his vehicle immediately. Maoists who had perched themselves on trees on either side of the road started shooting arrows at him, leaving him injured.
He, however, ignored his injury and managed to escape the attack site by speeding up his vehicle. He later reported the incident to the police.
The vehicle was carrying supplies for CRPF personnel to their camps in Kondapara, Kondasabali and Kamalpost in the area.
Later, the local police along with CRPF personnel launched a combing operation in the area, the police said.
