Supporting the surgical strikes by the Army in terror launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), Congress spokesperson Anand Sharma said on Monday that this is not the first time that such a retaliation took place, adding that “the details of earlier actions are there with the Army and the defence establishment.

“These decisions have always been taken by the Army. And yes, they had a complete support from the government,” he added.

Taking a dig at the NDA government, he said, “The political call on the Army action was not considered necessary earlier.” Mr Sharma added, “The country has spoken in one voice over the recent strike by the Army.” The Congress has supported the government on the Army’s strike across the LoC. Reaching out to all political parties, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj had called on Congress president Sonia Gandhi to explain the contours of the surgical strike.

The Congress stated it did not have the “slightest doubt” on the DGMO’s statement.

But on the question of Arvind Kejriwal’s statement, Mr Sharma said the government should expose Pakistan by putting out credible evidence of the strike.

The government, he added, has “all tools and instruments” to expose Pakistan’s denial. The Congress also urged the government to isolate Pakistan.
