Another Congress MLA from Arunachal Pradesh, former minister Kumar Waii, who was sacked by the chief minister recently, has called upon the AICC to change the state party leadership to avoid a catastrophe.

“I am going to approach Congress president Sonia Gandhi and ask her for a change in leadership,” Mr Waii said, adding, “I had trust in the leadership of Mr Tuki, but the way he messed up the state scenario, I have no faith in his leadership. Everybody is now aware of his mismanagement and the economic problems that the state is facing.”

Mr Tuki has survived many such attempted coups in the past but the dissident camp on Wednesday claimed Mr Tuki had no option but to resign.

The dissident MLAs, who are united in their demand, have not closed their doors to an alliance with the Opposition BJP to form government.

The angry legislators are also contemplating moving a no-confidence motion against the leadership of Mr Tuki in the forthcoming Assembly session.

Pema Khandu, son of late chief minister Dorjee Khandu, was made a minister in May 2011 after his father died in a helicopter crash. The Tawang MLA has been twice elected uncontested to the Legislative Assembly.
