National-level kabaddi player Sukhvinder Singh was shot dead just a few yards from his house by two men in Haryana’s Rohtak district. The murder, which took place on Tuesday in broad daylight, was caught on a CCTV camera installed near the player’s house.

Sukhvinder was walking home from his daily practice on Tuesday afternoon when two bike-borne assailants shot him twice in the chest. The attackers then pumped a third bullet in his head when he fell down on the road.

In the CCTV footage, Sukhvinder is seen talking to someone on his mobile while returning home.

“Two people on two-wheelers shot down Sukhvinder. By the time we reached the spot, he was already dead,” Sukhvinder’s father Chander Singh said. According to the family members of the deceased, Sukhvinder did not have personal enmity with anyone.

The police said a murder case has been registered against unidentified persons and a hunt has been launched to nab the killers.

Notably, in December 2015 another kabbadi player Deepak Kumar, alias Deepak Pehalwan, was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne men.
