BJP counters Congress in Bihar

New Delhi: In a strategic move to counter the Congress’ “Palayan Roko, Rozgar Do” (Stop Exodus, Provide Jobs) yatra, the BJP has introduced a new theme — “Chamke Bihar-Gamke Bihar, Amritkaal Me Damke Bihar” (Shining Bihar, Thriving Bihar, Glittering Bihar in Amrit Kaal) — aimed at showcasing Bihar’s potential and appealing to the state’s ethnonational sentiment. This approach challenges the Congress narrative that “Biharis are fleeing Bihar due to lack of jobs,” positioning the NDA as a champion of regional pride.

Amid speculation that the JD(U) could again shift allegiances, the campaign video prominently features both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar together in multiple segments. The three-minute, 43-second song highlights Bihar’s transformations under a “double-engine” government, listing achievements of the NDA administration and central schemes such as the PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, Ayushman Bharat Yojana, and PM Awas Yojana.
To emphasise stable ties with the JD(U), the BJP has included archival footage of Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Kumar together five times in the clip. Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha also appear alongside the Prime Minister and Chief Minister. A senior party functionary noted that the video “offers a glimpse of the transformation occurring in Bihar and underscores how both central and state initiatives have empowered the public.”
A party insider stated that the BJP plans to highlight these achievements across all communication platforms, seeking votes based on the work done by the BJP-led administration. “While opposition parties resort to false propaganda, we will counter them by showcasing the NDA’s successes in the state,” the insider added.
With an eye on another term for the NDA in Bihar, the BJP aims to win over 200 seats in the 243-member Assembly, employing a multi-pronged strategy that includes engaging with the state’s caste dynamics. This is part of a broader public awareness drive featuring the new slogan “Chamke Bihar-Gamke Bihar, Amritkaal Me Damke Bihar.” Currently, the BJP is running the “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, Sneh Milan” program nationwide from March 22 to 30, coinciding with Bihar Foundation Day celebrations, to highlight “Bihari identity.”
