Bride calls off wedding for being forced to dance to item numbers

The event took an ugly turn when the bride’s uncle got slapped for his interference.

: In an astonishing event, a woman called it quits on her wedding as she was forced to dance to cheesy Bollywood item numbers in Uttar area of Firozabad on Friday night. She pulled off her garland and walked away from the wedding altar.

According to one Shashikant Sharma, a station in-charge of Uttar police station, the bride was being persistently prodded to dance to item numbers by close acquaintances of the groom. However, when the bride laid off their request, the groom along with his friends left the altar and took to the dance floor. Later on, the groom went back to the wedding stage and asked her beau to dance.

Being miffed by the situation, the bride’s uncle tried to intervene. The event took an ugly turn when the uncle got slapped for his interference. Irked at the impudence, the bride decided to call off the wedding and alighted the altar, Shrama added.

The bride’s father and siblings further asked the guests to go back and rendered full support to the bride.

Displeased by the bride’s decision, the groom’s family started off an altercation that escalated the situation. Six men, which included the groom and his father as well, were put behind the bars; however, as no formal complaint was filed, they were later on released.
