Car loans to Rajasthan gangsters give bankers a run for their money
During the arrest of the Raju Thehat gang members, cops seized many luxury cars. They revealed many bank officials were in connivance with the accused.
Rajasthan’s most wanted criminals have been roaming around in luxury cars purchased through bank finance and many of these banks now fear about the recovery of these loans.
The details accessed by anti terrorist squad (ATS) and special operation group (SOG) recently revealed that more than two dozen luxury cars were bought in the name of criminals and history-sheeters through bank loans.
The ATS and SOG have been conducting a joint operation to nab one Anandpal Singh, who escaped from the police custody in September 2015. Although, he is still at large, the SPG and ATS have managed to arrest his gang members and his rival Raju Thehat.
The police seized many luxury cars from them. Following the interrogation, the police came to know that many bank officials were in connivance with them.
While a common person goes through harrowing experience for acceptance of his loan requests with hundreds of paperwork to comply with, these gangsters got easy finance despite having reward on their head. Now, these bank authorities say they are afraid of demanding repayment of the loans.
According to the police, the ATS arrested Bhanwar Chapra and Manoj Ola of the Raju Thehat gang on October 7. They told the police the luxury vehicle used by them was registered in the name of Manoj, who got it financed from a private bank but did not pay EMI. When the bank official, who cleared the loan asked for repayment, he reportedly threatened them. In May, the Sikar police arrested Subhash Moond, a history-sheeter, who has Rs 1 lakh reward on him. At the time of arrest, the luxury car in which they were travelling was financed in the name of Vijaypal. When Shankar Sharma, a sharp shooter of the Raju Thehat gang, was held in Mansarovar in March 2015, three of his gang members fired at cops and managed to escape in an imported SUV. Cops said Anandpal Singh bought three cars through bank finance for his gang members.
