CBI to quiz BJP gen secy Ramlal
The CBI is now preparing to examine BJP general secretary (organisation), Ramlal, in connection with allegations that he alongwith other party leaders had allegedly discussed ways to influence the statement of the mother of the fake encounter victim Tulsiram Prajapati to weaken the case against Amit Shah, a close aide of Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi. Prajapati was killed by Gujarat cops allegedly in a fake encounter on December 28, 2006 near Ambaji in Sabarkantha district of the state. “The CBI has already questioned BJP’s Rajya Sabha members Prakash Javadekar and Bhupendra Yadav in connection with the case. Now the CBI sleuths are preparing to examine Ramlal in this regard and he has been issued summon also,” sources said. His examination is likely to take place next week, they added. CBI officials had grilled Mr Javadekar and Mr Yadav, separately, for several hours in connection with a video tape in which they were allegedly seen discussing ways to weaken case against the then minister of state for home (Gujarat) Amit Shah. Sources said Mr Ramlal also figured in the sting operation conducted by an independent journalist. The journalist, who conducted the sting operation, alleged that BJP leaders managed to get undated blank “Vakalat-namas” from Narmad-abai to allegedly subvert the judicial proceedings.
