Congress attacks Nawaz Sharif over ‘glorification of terrorists’

The Congress hit out at Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday for his address in the United Nations General Assembly.

The Congress hit out at Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday for his address in the United Nations General Assembly. Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said that the “conspiratorial omission of the Uri attacks in his speech is a public admission of guilt by Pakistan of its direct involvement in this act of cowardice. There was nothing new in his address, except the glorification of terrorists and extremism, which Pakistan has adopted as state policy.”

The Congress also demanded that external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj should give a “strong and befitting” reply to Mr Sharif. After demanding answers from the government on the Uri attack, the Congress has now trained its guns on Pakistan. The Congress also added that by using and gloriyfying Burhan Wani, Pakistan has made it clear where its sympathy and support lies.

The BJP was also quick to take the Pakistani Prime Minister to task. A BJP general secretary said, “Nawaz Sharif at the United Nations yesterday was at his pathetic best.”

He talked not like the supreme commander of Pakistan, but he spoke like the supreme commander of Hizbul Mujahideen.” RSS leader Indresh Kumar said that Pakistan was trying to get Kashmiris killed by Kashmiris.

Now, all eyes are on the address Ms Swaraj will make at the United Nations General Assembly. The Congress has been asking the government for a response.
