Cops probe viral video of 7-year-old attack
Seven years after carrying out the deadly attack on a police party at Madanwada in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnan-dgaon district, massacring 29 troopers including the local superintendent of police, the Naxals on Wednesday released video footage of the ghastly incident.
The video showed the making of bombs and the chalking out of combat strategy barely a few hours before they ambushed a search party of security personnel, led by the then Rajnandgaon district SP V.K. Choubey in Madanwada jungle on July 12, 2009.
The video exposed the brutal face of the guerrillas as they were seen deriving sadistic pleasure in killing the policemen. The Naxals were seen letting out a strange cry every time they shot dead a policeman.
The video also picked a ghastly sight in which ultras were seen kicking the bodies of the deceased policemen and dancing on them.
The video showed the attackers removing the combat fatigues of the deceased policemen and also looting their belongings, including the cellphones. The ultras were also seen looting the weapons of the slain policemen.
The rebels were also seen celebrating their success even as the bodies of the policemen lay scattered at the massacre site.
“The release of the video footage of 2009 attack on the police party by Naxals was meant to spread terror. We have launched a probe to ascertain the veracity of the video. Each and every member participant in the attack would be identified from the video footage and brought to book”, special director general of police (DGP)(Naxal operation) of Chhattisgarh D.M.Awasthi told the media on Wednesday.
Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh observed that the video exposed the cruel face of the Naxals and the human rights activists who mobilize support for the Maoists at Delhi should see the video to realise “whom they are siding with”.
