Punjab cops shielding rape accused: SC body
Chandigarh: The National Scheduled Castes Alliance, a socio-political organisation, has brought to the light a case of rape, assault, murder and sexual harassment of a minor dalit girl in Punjab’s Kharar.
The president of the alliance, Paramjit Singh Kainth, said that a 13-year-old minor girl was gangraped near Kharar in Punjab, but, due to pressure from the government, the police has not been working to provide justice to the little girl and put the accused behind bars.
“The girl has been mentally traumatised ever since the cruel incident and has left school and other daily routines. It’s due to the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, victims like the minor dalit girl and her family have suffer distress and mental torture,” he said.
Demanding the immediate arrest of the accused, Mr Kainth said that there should be action against each and everyone who tried to manipulate the case and shield the accused.
“In a country, where ‘Beti Padhao Beti Bachao’ is an integral slogan in every politician’s speech, the gangrape of a minor is atrocious and the administration and the government, which is trying to influence this case, is reminiscent of the dark ages where the Scheduled Castes community was mistreated and no one was there to help or improve their condition,” Mr Kainth said.
A delegation of the alliance had also met with the IG of Patiala Zone last month.
