Bhopal: A four-year-old girl in a Madhya Pradesh village was abducted from her house late on Sunday night by a youth who raped her and then abandoned her in the nearby jungle believing her to be dead.

The incident took place in the village of Panna under the Uchehera police station in Satna district, the police said on Monday.

This was the second such horrific incident witnessed in Madhya Pradesh in a span of six days.

According to the police, the accused, 23-year-old Mahendra Singh Gond, kidnapped the child from her house while she was asleep and then raped her in the nearby jungle.

He then abandoned her at the deserted place thinking her dead.

“Some villagers noticed him when he was fleeing and captured him. He was later handed over to the police,” the investigating officer said.

The victim was rushed to the district hospital at Satna, where she was battling for her life, the police said.

The incident comes barely six days after a seven-year-old girl was abducted outside her school on June 26 in district headquarters town of Mandsaur and then gangraped allegedly by two youth.

She was also tortured by them causing damages to her internal organs.

The girl was found in an unconscious state in a nearby deserted place.

The seven-year-old is now recovering in MY Hospital in Indore.
