Lucknow: Gorakhpur’s Dr Kafeel Khan is back in news. After his younger brother was shot by unidentified assailants in Gorakhpur on June 10, it is now his elder brother who has been booked by the Gorakhpur police for forgery.

The suspended doctor’s elder brother Adeel Khan has been booked for forgery. He had allegedly opened a bank account in Union Bank of India in 2009 using a fake driving licence.

A day ago, Adeel had said in a statement that there was a conspiracy by the local police to frame him and his family members in false cases.

In a statement on Monday, he had said, “After I took my younger brother Jameel’s case to higher authorities, the police has been after us”.

Kashif Jameel was shot at last month by unidentified assailants.

Adeel had further indicated that “false cases” could be set up against him and his brothers in Gorakhpur, allegedly at the behest of BJP MP Om Prakash Paswan who had been named in the FIR by the Khan family for the attack on Kashif Jameel.

Earlier, Dr Kafeel Khan had claimed that he had been made a scapegoat in the BRD Hospital case.

Meanwhile, Dr Kafeel Khan had sought a CBI inquiry into the attack on his brother.

“The attack needs a CBI inquiry or a committee headed by a high court judge. The manner in which police delayed the treatment of my brother in the name of medico-legal examination is enough to show that they were either under pressure or following someone’s directions,” he said.
