Family, friends in shock over Assam IAS officer's suicide
Guwahati/New Delhi: The suicide by a senior IAS officer Mukesh Pandey, who hails from Assam, has come as shocker for his family members and friends in the state. Mr Pandey, an IAS officer of the 2012 batch, was found dead near railway track at the Ghaziabad railway station in Delhi NCR on Friday.
As the news of suicide came, a pall of gloom descended in Bamunimaidan locality in Guwahati where Pandey’s house is located. The aggrieved family members and his father, who is a doctor, said that they received an SMS from Mr Pandey on Thursday evening in which he said, “I, Mukesh Pandey, is committing suicide.” The deceased IAS officer had sent similar SMS to his many friends in Guwahati.
He said in the letter he was fed up with his life and has lost his “belief in human existence”. “I am committing suicide in district centre area of Janakpuri in west Delhi...by jumping off the 10th floor of the building. I am fed up with life and my belief in human existence has gone,” he wrote.
