ASI dies after hit by train while crossing rail tracks

A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at Sabzi Mandi Railway Police Station.

New Delhi: A 54-year-old assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Delhi police died after allegedly getting hit by a train in North Delhi’s Sabzi Mandi area on Saturday evening.

Railway police officials said that the victim has been identified as Om Prakash.

He was posted in the PCR unit of the Delhi police. The accident occurred when he was crossing the railway tracks. “Om Prakash was crossing the railway track on Saturday evening when a train hit him. It was an accident,” said a senior railway police officer.

A case under relevant sections of the IPC has been registered at Sabzi Mandi Railway Police Station.

A passerby informed the officials about the incident on Saturday evening. Om Prakash had sustained head injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was declared brought dead.
