Bihar: Two girls stripped as father fails to pay school fees

Patna: The state government has sought a report from the district administration after two girls belonging to a private school in Begusarai were stripped and sent home in a semi-naked condition.

The father of the girls, Chunchun Sah, had gone to pick their daughters from school on Friday when he was asked, “to either pay school fees or take their daughters home without a school shirt”, sources said.

Mr Sah, while talking to reporters in Begusarai, said, “They stripped my daughters in front of everyone despite my repeated request. I just wanted some more time to arrange the amount.”

The video footage which surfaced on Sunday showed the girls walking home in a seminaked condition.

“The teachers were not ready to give me even one more day to arrange the money and pay school fees for my kids,” Mr Sah told reporters in Begusarai.

Sources told this newspaper that the father had missed several deadlines to pay the school fees earlier and was seeking more time to arrange the money, but his request was rejected by the school authorities on Friday.

Three persons, including school-owner Mukesh Kumar and the principal, were arrested after the matter was reported to the police. The police claimed that a chargesheet in the case will be filed within a day.

“We have arrested three persons after an FIR was lodged by the victim’s father. Further investigation is on and we will soon file a chargesheet,” sub-divisional police officer Rajesh Kumar said.
