Odisha: Ambulance staff try to rape girl
Bhubaneswar: A 19-year-old girl on Saturday evening reportedly jumped off a moving ambulance after the staff attempted to rape her inside the vehicle in Odisha’s Angul district, reports said on Sunday.
According to reports, the girl was on her way home in the ambulance after admitting her elder sister to a private hospital in Cuttack.
The teenage girl from Kushakila village under Jarapada police limits in Angul district had accompanied her family members to Cuttack where her ailing sister was referred to a private hospital.
After travelling for quite some distance, the occupants of the vehicle attempted to rape the girl. While she resisted the attempt and raised an alarm, the accused opened the back door and the panicked girl jumped off the moving vehicle near Phulapada Square under Banarpal police limits in the district.
The locals found the grievously injured girl along the road and rushed her to District Headquarters Hospital, Angul. The girl has been admitted to hospital and undergoing treatment.
When the news of the unfortunate incident spread, the speeding private vehicle was intercepted near Cheliapada Square. Irate locals vandalised the vehicle and staged a road blockade, the reports added.
