Gurgaon woman abducted, gangraped in a moving car

35-year-old victim thrown out of car in Greater Noida.

Greater Noida/ Gurugram: A 35-year-old woman was abducted from Gurgaon and thrown out of a car in Greater Noida, on Tuesday morning, after being allegedly raped for hours by three men as they drove through the National Capital Region (NCR).

Echoing the horror of the IMT Manesar gangrape less than a month ago, the 35-year-old was found outside ‘Chacha Ka Restaurant’ in Greater Noida’s Golf Links, a long distance from where she had been abducted, at about 4 am when it was still dark.

A resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, the woman was visiting her relatives in Sohna. At around 8 pm last night she was pulled into a Maruti Swift car by the men.

Police in Greater Noida and Gurgaon, the two satellite towns flanking the national capital, is jointly investigating the case. “We have registered a case in Kasna police station on the complaint of the victim and made three teams which are taking help from the Gurugram police,” said Luv Kumar, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Gautam Budh Nagar. “We are examining the spot and sequence of crime from Gurugram and Greater Noida’s Kasna area,” Mr Kumar added.

The victim was taken for medical examination to Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida.

The woman, who had come to Gurgaon about 10-15 days ago and was staying with her family in the Sohna area, told police that the men took turns to rape her in the moving car for at least four to five hours.

After driving through Delhi they reached Greater Noida. Before escaping, they threw her out of the car in a dark spot. They also allegedly threatened her with dire consequences if she approached the police. However, the victim shared the story with the locals, who informed the police in Gautam Budh Nagar.

“Some beer bottles were also found at the spot which indicates that the accused persons were inebriated at the time,” a police officer said.

Gurgaon police commissioner Sandeep Khirwar said that police teams are examining CCTV footage of major roads in the NCR region to get some clue. “It has been found that till 1.30 am she was in Gurugram. In the CCTV footage it can be seen that the woman is walking from one point to another near Sahara Mall,” said a police

official. No arrests have been made as of yet. An FIR under IPC Section 376D (gangrape) is lodged on the woman’s statement.
