RSS worker shot dead in UP’s Ghazipur

Lucknow: A Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh worker and journalist was shot dead on Saturday by bike-borne assailants in Ghazipur district on Saturday. His brother was also critically injured in the shootout and has been sent to Varanasi for treatment. According to the police, RSS worker Rajesh Misra, 35, and his brother Amitesh Misra were sitting in their shop in Karanda on Saturday morning, when three motorcycle-borne assailants came and opened fire at them. Rajesh died on the spot, while Amitesh was hospitalised. Following this, panic prevailed and there were major protests and vandalism in the locality. Rajesh was associated with Hindi daily Dainik Jagran.

ADG Anand Kumar said that the assailants had been identified and were likely to be arrested soon. This incident comes days after a senior RSS leader Ravinder Gosain was shot dead in Ludhiana.
