MHA asks 3 states to tighten security

Rajasthan authorities have informed the home ministry that all precautionary measures had been put in place.

New Delhi: In view of the verdict in a rape case against self-styled godman Asaram by a Jodhpur court on Wednesday, the home ministry has asked three states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Haryana to enhance security to control incidents of violence.

Home ministry officials said the three states, where Asaram has a considerable number of followers, have been specifically asked to deploy additional security personnel to contain any untoward incident in case of an adverse verdict by the court on Wednesday.

Sources claimed home secretary Rajeev Gauba had personally talked to some of senior police and administration officials in these states. In Jodhpur, the local administration has already issued prohibitory orders. A special court which was formed inside the Central jail premises for the case will give deliver the order.

Rajasthan authorities have informed the home ministry that all precautionary measures had been put in place. Only the accused persons, including Asaram, and lawyers from both sides along with the judge and staff will be present inside the court room.
