Ahead of the crucial Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand, RSS top brass on Friday took stock of the status of various pro-poor (garib kalyan) schemes of the Modi government and also of Sangh Parivar’s ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya’s centenary celebrations. Senior RSS leaders Dattatreya Hosabale and Krishna Gopal, sources said, had a meeting with BJP president Amit Shah where they discussed about the status of various pro-poor schemes of the Centre.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had asked chief ministers of the BJP-ruled states to work in a “mission mode” to make their states a model for implementation of pro-poor schemes and those aimed to benefit the common man. Good governance, development and the central government’s pro-poor schemes will be the main poll planks of the BJP in the election bound states.

The RSS top brass, it was learnt, sought to know whether any problems were being faced in implementation of these schemes and even suggested that if any non-BJP ruled state was not taking interest in implementing any of the Central government schemes than the Sangh cadre should be involved to highlight them.

RSS leaders, sources said, also stressed on coordination in various Sangh affiliates while highlighting and promoting the Central schemes.

Senior BJP leader Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, who was part of the committee working on PM Narendra Modi’s “Garib kalyan agenda report”, also met the RSS top brass.

Some Central ministers, including culture minister Mahesh Sharma, also met the RSS top brass. The RSS had on various occasions stressed on coordination in the BJP, Centre and Sangh affiliates in highlighting government’s schemes that could benefit the BJP electorally.
