Film preservation workshop on February 26
The Narendra Modi government is set to promote archiving of India’s heritage films. National Film Archives of India is organising a 10-day workshop in Pune where experts in film preservation from across the world have been invited to share their expertise.
NFAI, in association with International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) and Film Heritage Foundation (FHF), is hosting a 10-day international workshop on film preservation and restoration at the Pune NFAI campus. “The workshop, from February 26 to March 6, 2016, would see lectures and practical sessions on various techniques related to film conservation, digitisation, restoration and technical aspects of film archiving,” said Union information and broadcasting secretary Sunil Arora. It is understood to be the first time that such a workshop is being organised at NFAI and the course is specially customised by David Walsh, head of the technical commission of FIAF for Indian requirements and conditions and is certified by FIAF.
