Government to launch propaganda blitz
With crucial Assembly elections approaching in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa, the government machinery is all set to go all out to woo the electorates in favour of the BJP.
The Union information and broadcasting ministry has asked its wings, which include the directorate of audio visual publicity and directorate of field publicity, to launch a massive propaganda blitz to highlight the achievements of the Centre through advertisements, public contact programmes including plays and nukkad nataks.
Social media will also be used to swing the voters in states like UP and Punjab.
The publicity units are gearing up for polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Goa, where they are expected to create mass awareness regarding the achievements of the Modi government.
While the BJP rules in Goa and Punjab (with ally Shiromani Akali Dal), polls in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand will be crucial for the prestige of the party and are expected to be hotly contested.
Similar preparations will be made for polls in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, where polls are scheduled for the later part of next year. Interestingly, all these states have BJP governments. It is understood that these units have been mandated with projecting the achievements and people friendly policies of the Narendra Modi government.
Sources stated that these publicity units will organise exhibitions, public contact programmes and social media campaigns to reach out to the common man.
Several people centric policies of the Modi government in the fields of health, education, pension, loans for farmers, crop insurance, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan and rural electrification and road building programmes will be brought before the people of these states.
