UP job scam: 5 officers to be quizzed by CBI
The CBI, probing the alleged irregularities in the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in UP, is all set to examine five senior officials of seven districts of the state government in connection with the case.
Sources said, “The CBI will soon examine five senior officials of certain districts, including Mahoba, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra, in connection with the case. The agency sleuths recently completed scrutiny of some fresh documents pertaining to the implementation of MGNREGS funds in seven districts—Balrampur, Gonda, Mahoba, Sonbhadra, Sant Kabir Nagar, Mirzapur and Kushinagar.” The agency has already registered seven FIRs. The FIRs were registered on the direction of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court.
The probe period is between 2007-10. During this period, BSP leader Mayawati was the chief minister. Expressing displeasure over corruption in the implementation of the scheme, Allahabad HC had directed the CBI to probe allegations of financial irregularities into use of MGNREGS funds in seven districts in UP.
